Update: Sierra has a deposit down and will be adopted next weekend.
Sierra is a 1.5 y/o young petite German Shepherd (under 40lbs) mix who is being helped by NorthStar WI. Sierra is living with a wonderful family who adopted her in November. Over the past two months, through no fault of Sierra and to the sadness of the family, they have made the hard decision to re-home her. NorthStar has met Sierra (we think she’s a wonderful dog) and we are assisting in the adoption process.
Sierra is a young dog with lots of energy and love to give. The perfect home will be a family with GSD and or herding dog experience. She has all the breed characteristics we’d expect to see: Smart, focused, bonds strongly and has strong ball and food drive drive (which is great for training). We believe Sierra could be a great agility or other sport dog. She can fly like the wind, drop on a dime and watches you with rapt attention.
Sierra is young and at times inexperienced with proper social behavior. Though regular outings and meeting new people and places and things, Sierra will grow in her confidence and continue to grow into a wonderful family companion. As with many young dogs and in this case a dog that really wants to please, the new family will need to continue with obedience training and set limits with Sierra so that she learns the right way to do things.
She will need a visible fence or be on leash when outdoors as she loves nothing better than to chase the little squirrels who taunt her. Due to this we do not believe she would do well in a home with kitties.
She already knows many commands, is housebroken, crate trained and will be up to date on vaccinations, spayed and microchipped.
