Scooter is a very gentle, sweet and shy young male Lab mix. We think he is around 2 years old. Originally from Mississippi, Scooter found his way to Wisconsin this past fall and has been learning to trust people and new experiences. He is non-aggressive and submissive to people and dogs alike.
He has made great progress with his foster home during the last month. He went from cowering with his tail tucked, to tail wags when he sees us now. Today, he loves nothing more than cuddles and sleeping with his humans. Scooter is still learning that the world around him is a wonderful place and will need a family that understands his fears of the unknown.
A perfect home for Scooter will be one that will provide Scooter with lots of love, patience, quiet time and consistency. He doesn’t play much with his foster family’s dog, but we think another dog may be a good companion, as he or she can continue to help Scooter build confidence in his abilities to be a dog. Due to his anxieties, a home without young children would be best. He has not been cat tested but does like to chase rabbits in the back yard.
Scooter is up to date on vaccinations, neutered and is heartworm negative. He is quite possibly the perfect size dog at 39 lbs. He has the face of a black lab puppy. He is crate and house trained, but might have an accident once in a while because he is too shy to ask to go outside.
